Well, the main destination on this trip is Glacier National Park and here we are!
Of course we left our hotel early, just because that is what we do and we figured we might beat some of the traffic. We are stating about 40 miles from the west entrance to the park. Ideally we would have stayed closer or maybe within Glacier but we made reservations a bit late. I hear that some places fill up a year in advance.
The main attraction in the park is Going To The Sun Road. It is a 45 mile road that cuts through the park from west to east. From this road you can access all of the "attractions". As you enter the west side you ride along the pristine waters of Lake McDonald, a miles long glacier lake. Most of the first part of the park is a nice fairly wide, tree lined road. The middle part of the road climbs to Logan Pass and as you climb the road becomes narrow and windy with incredible drop offs. Now I am terrified of heights (I hate it by the way) so until we stopped at he The Logan Pass visitor center, I really didn't see much of the scenery. (did I say I hate being afraid of heights?) At that point though we were treated to some really spectacular views, a bit of snowpack above us and a whole lot of people. We left the visitor center and made our way UP to the highest point in the park and then down to the east side and Saint Mary Lake. We hiked into one of the waterfalls and had a picnic lunch by the river. By now it was mid afternoon and Cherif and I headed out of the park to take the road south and west that skirts the park while Kim decided to stay and go back up the mountain to do some more hiking.
I am going to just post some pictures and let them speak for themselves of the beauty here.

The view on the road home was spectacular too |
Tomorrow we will be back at he park early. The plan is to do a couple of hikes and rent some kayaks to explore a bit of Lake McDonald.
